ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to find out the extent of students' ability to write. As is the case with the learning of Indonesian courses with material on the application of writing skills in the first semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year at STAI Samora Pematangsiantar. In the implementation of learning the Indonesian course with the subject matter "Application of Writing Skills", out of 31 students, only 4 students got a score above 70 or equivalent to 1% of students who were able to master the material. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) by designing a cycle that will be carried out in three cycle stages. Among them is carrying out a plan that the researcher prepares by preparing learning implementation instruments, observance sheets for each cycle and learning improvement plans as implementation guidelines. Then the implementation stage is carried out planning to improve the learning of the Indonesian Language Course which is planned to use 3 cycles of learning improvement. The results of the improvement are evidenced by the increase in the results of student evaluation scores. Of the 31 students in the first cycle, there were only 14 students who got a score above 70 or equivalent to 64.66%. In the second cycle of learning improvement, there were 17 students who scored above 70 or equivalent to 73.88%, and in the third cycle there were 31 students who scored above 70 or equivalent to 82.2%.
