The reading interest of students in a university has a vertical relationship with the quality of the university. The high interest in reading individual books affects a person's insight, mentality and behavior. Globally, Indonesia is a nation with a low level of interest in reading even though it has been more than 70 years since Indonesia became an independent country. There are many factors why students' reading interest has a low presentation and this is part of low interest in reading among students at STAI Samora Pematangsiantar. This problem must immediately get serious attention from the government. How the discourse of interest in reading is a serious concern for all circles of society. When interest in reading becomes a culture in Indonesia, it is not impossible for Indonesia becomes a nation that is not only successful in developing but also as a developed nation.
